Around 10-15% of people hear sounds such as ringing in their ears, which is called tinnitus. At TRIG our vision is to pair novel research and innovative strategies to create personalised and effective tinnitus management options for those living with tinnitus. Our current research is focused on using a multi-disciplinary approach to optimise non-invasive brain stimulation, hearing aid use and sound therapies to manage tinnitus.

What is Tinnitus ?
Tinnitus is a symptom most commonly described as a ringing, buzzing, whooshing or humming in one or both ears, or even in the head when there is no external sound source.
Tinnitus is not a disease, it is a symptom of incorrect processing in the auditory system, which includes the ear, the auditory nerve that connects the inner ear to the brain, and the parts of the brain that process sound. At the moment there is no 'one-size'fits-all' cure for tinnitus. At TRIG we aim to improve tinnitus management strategies and spread awareness on tinnitus and hearing health. |
